Sesame Street, Cake, Smiling and Crying

Yay Sesame Street! So last Thursday my cousin Taylor calls me really excited with some news that she had won tickets to Sesame Street Live by listening to the radio and guessing "Matt Damon's" voice correctly. Since she has no kids she thought of Emma and I. she goes Thursday evening to pick up the tickets and come to find out a Meet and Greet the characters came along with it. I told Emma what we were going to do right before we left. she thought we were going to see a movie with Elmo in it. She was excited. When we walked into the room to meet Elmo and Zoe you should have seen the look on her face. She was a little shocked at first, but excited non the less. this is what the stage looked like. The show was called Elmo's Healthy Heroes. Of course Cookie Monster was promoting eating vegetables. It was a good little show. Long, but good.

Emma is such a cute little girl. Everett was chilling with Elmo. They pretty much became good friends after that.

We invited Peter and his mom Suzie Harrison to come with us. Peter is so cute. He was so excited to go. we went to pick them up and he kept running to the door to see if we were there yet Suzie said. I am glad they got to go with us on such short notice.

Everett totally cheezin' it up. You can see his bottom teeth a little bit. He is now SEVEN months old. what a big boy. Oh, and he started crawling today. Not a whole lot. He is still getting the hang of it. It is so cute. He is so happy now that he can move.

This is how we normally see Emma with her arms loaded with stuffed animals. She calls them her babies.

So, today was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining, it was 84 degrees and I decided to get the pool out for Emma to play in. She gets in and all of a sudden she starts crying. For some reason she has decided to be scared of bugs. I am afraid that camping with this girl might be out. She is always asking me to shoo a fly away. Flys bite, but only when it is going to rain. Well, thise little tiny gnats kept getting in the pool and Emma was crying and making a big scene wanting me to pull them all out. No way was I going to do that. I tried to explain to her that the bugs wanted to play with her in the water and that it was okay. She wouldn't understand that they were dead. I eventually had enough of her freaking out and crying because the pool was getting more bugs in it, that i made her go inside and go to bed. I know I am a mean mom...

Oh well! Such is life. She is cute though. Her swimmin suit is definitely way too small for her now.

This is the kind of face I want to see. The other day she wanted to put a blanket on Zeke. She loves to torture him. He tolerates her. He just recently discovered that he can actually run away from her, even hide from her if he wants to. He is a silly cat. It is a love hate relationship with Zeke. There are times when he will crawl into bed with her and sleep at her feet, or he'll sprawl out and let her love on him until she starts pulling on his tail. I make Emma give him his treats so he has to love her. Ha ha!

So the other day word got out that I made a delicious cake for the cake auction. I received a call from a sister in the Relief Society Presidency asking me if I could make the cake for the Relief Society Birthday Party. I agreed and this is what I came up with. I know it doesn't look professional and by the time it got to the church building it started to sag. How lame is that. I wanted to put it in my fridge but there was no room. It was still good and people kept coming up to me and saying that it was the best cake they had ever had. I am glad that it turned out.

Our Happenings

Emma and I have been spending a lot of time outside. Ihave been raking leaves and getting it ready for summer and for our garden. I am so excited for spring and to have a garden. It has been beautiful outside lately. Emma, Everett and I have gone to the zoo twice already. Emma has loved it. I took the wagon this last time and Everett did so good. I didn't have to pull out the carrier at all. Last time we went to the zoo I had him in the carrier I felt like I was 11 months pregnant. Heavy boy! My body was screaming at me by the end of the day. Never again!!!

We have been letting Zeke Play outside too. Only in the back yard though. He has no front claws, so if a dog came around he would be dog meat for sure. He is loving it. Everyday he comes around meowing at me. I check his food and water bowl and they are fine. I clean his litter and he doesn't go there. I open the back door and he runs right out. Silly cat.

Emma likes to pick up ants and play with them. She has no idea that she is squishing them.

We are finally getting Emma tested for autism. The scheduled appointment is April 14th I believe. I have to double check. I am anxious to see if she is or not, that way we can take the proper steps in her education. She is really smart, but there are a few things that she does that makes me question.

Everett has been teething for about a month and a half now. He finally has a tooth that popped through. the other one is about to pop out. poor guy. His two bottom teeth have been trying to come at the same time. My friend told me that her midwife told her to get "liquid calcium" to help with teething. She used that on her daughter and the teeth came in without all the fuss. Amazing. I need to get some of that.

So Everett does not crawl yet. He scoots himself backwards and this is where he scooted himself. He was so happy to see that I found him. What a cute little boy.

I let Emma help me make lunch. She is becoming quite the cook in her own mind. I am planning on making her an apron soon and really letting her help me in the kitchen. She is in the kitchen as I type this helping daddy make cheesy egg and tomato burritos for breakfast. Mmmm!

This is the cake I made for a cake auction that the scouts had. Everyone thought it was store bought. It went for $20.00. It was a yellow cake made from scratch. It was so good. There was one cake that went for $295.00. I thought that was a little crazy. Oh well, it went to a good cause. The sister who bought it was excited about the cake. She said her kids couldn't believe that I made it. they kept asking her if I really made it and they kept saying, "there is no way that she could have made this. IT IS SO PERFECT!" I could see the flaws in it. I am glad that they liked it. I am not as good at decorating cakes as Monica, the cake queen, but someday.....Someday! I plan on taking more cake decorating classes when our pockets will allow. I really enjoyed making it. I made another cake just for us. It was really good. It was a chocolate cake from a box. I ran out of ingredients to make one from scratch again.

I didn't bother trying to make it look perfect as you can probably tell.

She's a STAR! She thought it would be fun to put on moms sunglasses.

He is so proud of himself. What a big boy.

He has now pretty much graduated from tummy time. When he does get on his tummy he gets right on his knees.
He loves to sit up now and play with his toys.

Look at those blue eyes and the drool coming off of his chin. Lovely!

Emma in the kitchen. She kept saying that she was making cupcakes.

Tummy Time

Everett in his little bouncer. He doesn't realize how fun this thing can be. Emma loved to bounce and would bounce for hours, fall asleep in it and get startled and wake up and just start bouncing. Everett is all about the toys for about 10 minutes and then wants mommy again. I am not sure, but I think he has started to say "momma." He knows!!! I need to teach him to say Dad.

Pictures, Pictures and more Pictures

Today is such a snowy day. I decided to update my blog. Our computer went out so I am using my mother in laws laptop. I had tons of pictures on my camera that needed to be downloaded to my computer. I thought that this was a perfect day for it. I am still trying to decide whether to cancel my class for tonight or to go even though there is like 5 inches of snow out there and 3 degrees with a 20 mph wind. Hmmm!
I just put tons of pictures on this blog. Some are from Thanksgiving when my brother and his family were in town. Some are from September and October. I don't know which though. I guess it doesn't matter. Enjoy the pictures. By the way, Everett is four months old now. I can't believe it. He is growing so fast. Emma is driving me up a wall every time he crys because she starts to cry and says that she is scared of the baby. I am hoping it is just a phase that will be over soon.

Everett is two months old in this picture. I love his owl hat that my friend Jeanna gave to him.

This is such a cute little face. He has the bluest eyes.

Me and my babies. I love my kids. Emma and I got out the face paints. I found this book at Barnes and Noble with the pictures and paint. It is awesome. Emma and I had fun.

Everett is such a big baby. I think he is a month old in this picture. He was big as a new born. He is now 17 lbs.

You can sort of see the frog on her cheek. We had another face painting day. Emma is funny. Her two favorite things are her puppy dog and her socks. She loves sock puppets. She will take her socks off just so she can have a sock puppet.
If we want her to do something she will not listen to mommy or daddy, but she WILL listen to sock puppet. She will even listen to her stuffed animals. Go figure. We ran out of pull-ups the other day so she had to go to bed in her panties and woke up soaked. She didn't want her puppy to get a bath even though he was peed on. She just kept refusing. Finally I grabbed her puppy and had puppy tell her that he needed a bath. She was okay with that and I put puppy in the hamper. As Chris was taking the laundry down stairs Emma wanted puppy dog again. So this time the hamper told Emma that he needed to take puppy to go get a bath. She said "Okay" and ran in her room to play. She is a very funny girl.

I was taking pictures of Madison and she wanted to make funny faces.

She is such a beautiful little girl.

Everett is so stinking cute. I love those cheeks.

Kayla and Madison are two peas in a pod. It is so fun to watch these two little princesses together. I have beautiful nieces.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!

this year is almost to an end. A lot has happened in the Green house. Emma turned 3 in July, Chris got a new job in August working for APX Alarm and loves it, I started teaching again and oh yeah, Everett was born September 18th. He is now 3 months old and is eating solid food. He loves it. He fights the bottle and we really only give him a bottle when he is half asleep. Good thing he sleeps a lot. He is so cute. He has the cutest smile. He can now roll over onto his back from his stomach. He loves to stand. He is probably 15 pounds now. He is solid and very heavy.
Emma is so cute. lately she has been into watching Cinderella, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Lady and the Tramp and Baby Einstein. Mom got Everett the baby einstein, but Emma loves it. It is all about animals and she loves animals.

I love this time of year. I love the smells of Christmas, the goodies, the lights, the Christmas tree, celebrating the birth of the Savior. This year we have really been focusing on the true meaning of Christmas. I like Santa, but since Emma is getting older I would rather instill in her that Christmas is about the Savior. We still get excited about Santa and reindeer, but right now she has no idea about what santa is all about.

Since Emma has been watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer a lot lately, she has also been singing the song. It is so cute. She loves to sing. I find her singing to her stuffed animals. Or if we are listening to the radio and a certain christmas song comes on that talks about christmas or has the word christmas she will come in and make her stuffed animals dance to the music. So fun to watch. I love Christmas music!

Every morning when Emma wakes up we go to the advent calender. ours is a wooden christmas tree that has 25 little doors on it. I put candy in it so when she opens it we all get a piece of candy. then we have little ornaments that you can put on the knobs of the tree. Emma loves it. I dump all of the ornaments on the ground and let her decide which one she wants to put on. She will go through each one naming what it is and then decide. It has been so much fun this year to see her understanding of things.

Every monday for FHE we have been doing a lesson on Christmas and what the real meaning of Christmas is. Well, the other day Davis, Kayla and Brendan spent the night and I asked them why we have Christmas. I don't remember their answers but we talked about the birth of Christ and a little about why he needed to come, that because of him we have a way to return back to heavenly father, then we watched "The Nativity," the one that the church put out. I got to bear my testimony to them. The spirit was strong. They are such great kids. I just love them. If you want to know what it means to be "pure in heart" just hang out with them for a while and you will see.

Tonight Chris and I took Emma to see some Christmas lights. We drove around and found the coolest thing. This house was all decked out with lights and the lights were set to a radio station and it was a light show. It was so neat to watch. We are going to take our family on Christmas Eve to see them. There are two houses that we went to that were all decked out. One of them was like the Griswald family Christmas house, but better. It had tons of stuff. It had a life size santa on the roof in a plastic box that moved back and forth with a sleigh and reindeer. it looked really good, but all of the lights that were set up was a destraction to the light show. It was still awesome though. I liked the other house though. The light show was more entertaining. I am sure they have those everywhere where someone has there lights set to music. Super cool!

Well, we hope everyone has a great Christmas and a fun New Year!
